Wear levelling

The wear leveling is a function or algorithm designed to enhanced life of flash memories (SSD, Iphone, Micro SD, USB Key) by optimizing the number of cycle (erase/write) among flash cells. It works on a block level, so 64 times the size of a sector.

The smallest unit to be piloted on a flash memory is a block. For a classic hard drive, this is a sector.
